Suelo® Outdoor Dining Chairs in Black - 3023

The black Suelo dining chair is a modern outdoor dining chair in solid mahogany, finished in a commercial-grade black exterior coating that lets the form read as a clean graphic line. Bertu Home builds each one by hand in Ohio, with a comfortable back and seat cushion so a long dinner outside stays easy. It brings an organic modern restraint to the patio table: simple frame, soft seat, nothing extra.

The wood frame is suitable for outdoor conditions and finished with a commercial grade exterior finish. Finish options include natural, grey-wash, dark walnut, and ebony. The cushions are upholstered with a fast dry foam and mesh bottom for longevity in outdoor use. The Suelo® Collection consists of an arm chair, side chair, bench, daybed, loveseat, ottoman, dining chairs - both arm and side, and multiple orientations of sofas/sectionals for indoor or outdoor use. You can get any Suelo® piece in a solid or slatted version. This specific wood species is for outdoor use; other Suelo® listings show our indoor options. Performance outdoor fabric is included in the price. Many colors and textures available! Contact us for colors and samples. COM is always an option.

Designer Inspiration: "The Suelo® Collection was inspired by my love for travel. So many places that inspire me have very minimal furniture, often built-in sofas with big comfy cushions, hammocks, raw natural wood, etc. The feel is low-key, simple, and comfortable. The wood isn't refined, it just IS. Functionality always plays into my designs as well, represented here by lower seating for a more intimate talking or lounging environment, and the platform wood extension detail on the sofa, which makes a great little table for your drink or cell phone. I envision this furniture used for indoor/outdoor spaces or any room that needs some comfort or relief. The Suelo® line reminds me of your own getaway - it has a natural, cool vibe and doesn't take itself too seriously. I imagine the sofa loaded up with pillows and some music playing in the background, of course." -Gretta Jones

A modern square wood stump side table — and a striking modern nightstand — handcrafted from rough-cut red cedar by the artisan makers at Bertu Home in the heart of Ohio. Unlike our round tree stump tables, each of these is hand-sawn into a bold 12" x 12" square column: a sculptural, luxury stump table with serious character. Use it as a modern side table, a nightstand, a stool, or group a few together as an organic-modern coffee table.

Because these are solid red cedar cut to a square shape, they carry even more character than our maple squares — cracks can be as wide as 1/2" as the wood dries in our kiln. That is the look we love: no two pieces are exactly alike. A top-end, made-in-USA statement in luxury, organic-modern design — curated for The Swanky Abode. Please view all photos to see what to expect.

"I love natural elements. I'm inspired by them and I love being surrounded by them. I also love modern furniture and accessories. When thinking of new products a few years back, I wanted to do a modern twist on something considered rustic and 'country.' Thus the whitewash stump table was born! It's important to our family to not only design and manufacture beautiful things, but to provide the best quality and experience. There is a lot of love that goes into each stump, as we hand pick and finish each one per order. Add a little piece of nature to your home in a modern way!" — Gretta Jones // Bertu Home

Price includes free domestic FedEx Ground shipping. Our stumps are now kiln dried, which helps with major cracking, moisture, and bugs. Please note: these stumps will age naturally, even more so outdoors and exposed to the elements. Each is a solid log with its own character, so we cannot guarantee the finish won't fade or discolor, as this varies by climate and log.

Important information about our stumps

1. Please unpack your stump immediately and leave it out of any packaging. These are real pieces of wood and need to breathe!

2. For outdoor stumps: though kiln dried and suitable for outdoor use, humidity in different climates can affect the top finish, most often in direct sunlight. Solid wood and the elements are unpredictable. The great thing about these logs is you can always sand them down and refinish.

3. Wood naturally moves. These are solid pieces and are prone to cracking. You may get more or bigger cracks in the first few weeks as the wood acclimates to its new home.

4. These stump tables have nylon glides (feet) underneath to make them easier to move and to allow airflow to the wood. Airflow is most effective on hard flooring; on rugs or carpet, check the underside periodically.

5. If you have any questions or concerns, please write or call. We are always available, honest, and transparent about our products.

This outdoor wood stump side table is made in the heart of Ohio with locally sourced wood. The stump can be used for a side table, a stool, or grouped together for a coffee table. Each stump is made from a solid trunk of rough cut red cedar and each is hand sawed, sanded, and sprayed with a commercial grade exterior finish. Every part of the process is handled with care to honor the unique markings of each tree. PLEASE NOTE: THESE ARE PRONE TO CRACKING. WE LOVE THE LOOK BUT THESE DEFINITELY ARE NOT FOR THE PERSON WHO WANTS A PERFECT SQUARE.... LOTS OF CHARACTER. Cracks can even be as big as 1/2" wide due to proper drying in our kiln. The idea is that most of the cracking happens before it is sprayed, shipped, and in its new home. Cracks can even be as big as 1/2" wide due to proper drying in our kiln. Due to the size of red cedar trees we need to accomplish this square shape, these could have more character than our maple squares. Please view all photos to see what you can expect.

Please note, we have upgraded to a more durable outdoor finish with extra UV protection. With the extra durability comes more of a glossier finish. Please refer to photo #2 which shows the true new outdoor finish.

Why buy BERTU HOME stumps?

KILN DRIED

Our stumps all go through a drying process in our kiln, sometimes for up to a month. We are meticulous with bringing each and every log to a specific moisture level. This process helps with major cracking, long-term moisture issues, and bugs.

ECO FRIENDLY

In an effort to replenish the trees we use, we plant 50+ trees a year. In addition, we practice salvage logging. Where do we source these? Some of the trees fall naturally. Some have damage from severe wind, lightning, flood, disease, or other natural disturbance so they need to be cut and removed before they fall. Others are fresh cut because people want them off their land. Salvage logging may reduce erosion, reduce intensity of future wildfires, and slow buildup of pest insects.

FAMILY OWNED

These are made from our family to yours. Quality is of utmost importance, and we hand cut, de-bark, sand, and finish every piece with care. See how we do it here.

COMMERCIAL GRADE

These stumps are meant to be loved and USED. Each is finished with a durable commercial-grade finish. This finish is tough enough for spills, kids, and holds up in hotel and hospitality settings.

2. For OUTDOOR stumps : Though these are kiln dried and the wood can be used outdoors, sometimes when they arrive in different climates, humidity levels adjust and can affect the finish on top. Part of Bertu Home's Bali Collection, this slatted outdoor end table is solid sapele mahogany, built in Ohio and finished with a commercial-grade exterior coating. Its simple silhouette and sleek slats make it an easy organic modern companion to the Bali chairs and loveseats, whether it sits on a patio or inside. Finish options include natural, grey-wash, dark walnut, and ebony.

Designer Inspiration: "The Bali Collection was created as a break at the end of the day. Its simple silhouette offers a low and relaxed feel. The back is at a perfect angle for lounging and relaxing but also comfortable and upright enough for a night of conversation. Life is busy and it's important to take time to unwind. The focus of this collection is to do just that - create a space that acts as a refuge from the busyness of the world. I've never been to Bali, but I've heard it's magical; A wonderful blend of culture, people, nature, activities, beautiful weather, and great food and nightlife. I want to recreate that with this Collection. Use it indoor or outdoor. I want this collection to remind you to slow down and enjoy life." -Gretta Jones

Suelo® Outdoor Sofa in Natural - 4222

In its natural mahogany finish, the Suelo outdoor sofa shows the warm, open grain of the wood and keeps the silhouette low and uncomplicated. Bertu Home builds each frame by hand in Ohio and pairs it with deep back and seat cushions, giving a modern outdoor room a sofa that feels organic rather than staged. It is made to be lived on daily, with a finish and fabric chosen for sun and weather.

You can get any Suelo piece in a solid or slatted version. This specific wood species is for outdoor use; other Suelo listings show our indoor options.
