This Florence Knoll walnut floating credenza for Knoll Inc. is in excellent condition. The top and sides have been professionally refinished to match the original finish on the doors. The interior shows some scuffs and discoloration from age and use (pictured). There is one small indentation on the front of the cabinet that is hard to see unless the light hits it correctly (also pictured). Overall this pieces is beautiful and hard to find.

history

Lawrence "Larry" Peabody (1924-2002) was an architect, interior designer, and furniture designer. As an American born in Haverhill, Massachusetts, his distinctive design were often influenced by his Scandinavian roots. Lawrence studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen, Denmark and at the Rhode Island School of Design. His early career with Selig Mfg. Co. was prolific and helped put both himself and Selig on the map for modern furniture. He then started Lawrence Peabody & Associates in 1955, a design firm in Boston which included a vast client list (Sears, Roebuck & Co., Kohler, Regal Rugs, Boyd Lighting, Chapman Lamps, and Richardson Brothers).

In 1961, Mr. Peabody won a Citation for Merit for his Peabody Collection for Richardson/ Nemschoff. Winner of the 1962 International A.I.D. design award for his wood frame rattan cradle chair, he also received the Walnut Classic Award for outstanding established collection of furniture executed in walnut. Craft Associates® Furniture is honored to have acquired the rights to produce licensed Lawrence Peabody designed furniture.

The Modern Console is a modern luxury console in solid walnut, a custom expression of Laura Trenchard's Eiger collection for Craft Associates® that can be configured by bay count and wood species. Each piece is built to order in the United States, hand-shaped by artisans and finished in a soft commercial-grade matte rather than by machine. It is a luxury modern storage piece with clean, architectural proportions.

The Cali Credenza is a modern luxury credenza handmade in the heart of Ohio from solid, locally sourced pine finished in a weathered matte, set on a hand-welded steel frame powder-coated in your choice of color. A white-lacquered shelf bridges its two storage units and a glass inset top adds a display surface — equally at home as a media console. It is a modern industrial storage piece made to order, one at a time.

This Walnut Buffet - The Baron is made in the heart of Ohio with locally sourced wood. Each unit is handmade with solid walnut and finished with a beautiful commercial grade natural matte finish. The base is also walnut with a black commercial grade finish. Hand welded pulls adorn each drawer and door. This piece is perfect for storage, a media unit, or in an office. We love this piece as it has just the right amount of nod to a mid century design.
