Lawrence "Larry" Peabody (1924-2002) was an architect, interior designer, and furniture designer. An American born in Haverhill, Massachusetts, his distinctive designs were often influenced by his Scandinavian roots. Lawrence studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen, Denmark and at the Rhode Island School of Design. His early career with Selig Mfg. Co. was prolific and helped put both himself and Selig on the map for modern furniture. He then started Lawrence Peabody & Associates in 1955, a design firm in Boston with a vast client list (Sears, Roebuck & Co., Kohler, Regal Rugs, Boyd Lighting, Chapman Lamps, and Richardson Brothers).

In 1961, Mr. Peabody won a Citation for Merit for his Peabody Collection for Richardson/Nemschoff. Winner of the 1962 International A.I.D. design award for his wood-frame rattan cradle chair, he also received the Walnut Classic Award for an outstanding established collection of furniture executed in walnut. These Paul McCobb dressers (Planner Group series) are in good vintage condition with age appropriate wear. The finish is original and does have normal imperfections with age (scratches, dings, etc /pictured). There is light discoloration on the bottom edges. The iron looks to have been painted at some point. Overall these dressers are amazing in person.

The chunky horizontal walnut planks between the drawers feel modern and architectural, and the blackened beams offset the warm wood for a luxurious, high-contrast look. It is built with a poplar secondary wood and hand-cut dovetail joints, with smooth push-to-open drawers. Made to order in walnut, maple, white oak, or the wood of your choice — and available in smaller sizes on request.

This Walnut 6-Drawer Vanity is made in the heart of Ohio with locally sourced wood. Each vanity is hand-made with solid walnut and finished with a beautiful matte commercial grade finish (other woods and finishes available!). It is important to us to let the natural beauty of the walnut shine. We use secondary wood for the drawers (poplar), and each is constructed with dovetail joints. The u-shape interior drawers allow room for plumbing while maximizing usable storage. We absolutely love this design - fresh, modern, and looks great with any aesthetic.
