Craft Associates® is the second of the two American manufacturers The Swanky Abode represents, and the more sculptural of them. The line is built from licensed reintroductions of modern designs — Lawrence Peabody and Milo Baughman among them — alongside house pieces including the Cloud, the Jetson, the Floating Sofa, the Alaska and the Canadian.
The signature is visible structure. A walnut or white oak frame carries the upholstery rather than hiding beneath it, and in the Iron Sofa a wrought iron one does. Frames are solid oak or maple, hardwoods chosen to hold a sculptural shape without the weight, and solid throughout; thick plywood appears only where solid stock would fail the form.
Upholstery runs to mohair, leather and bouclé, COM is accepted, and cushions use an exceptionally high-density foam. Everything is built by hand in the United States.
