Bertu Home Modern Sofas

Bertu Home is one of two American manufacturers The Swanky Abode represents. The work is new design by Greta Jones — modern luxury sofas with a quiet, architectural line in solid alder, maple, teak and white oak, led by the Suelo® collection: platform sofas, loveseats, walnut and leather sofas, slatted outdoor frames and sectionals.

What separates Bertu Home from the Craft Associates® line also carried here is restraint. The frames sit low and run long, the joinery stays plain, and the material does the work. That is why the collection holds an open plan or a window wall well, and why it takes an outdoor frame convincingly where a more sculptural sofa would look wrong outside.

Frames are solid wood throughout. Cushions use an exceptionally high-density foam, and the outdoor pieces are built with a dedicated outdoor foam. Everything is made to order in the United States and upholstered by hand in leather, bouclé, mohair or your own material.

The Suelo® Wood Sofa draws a long, low, quietly modern line in solid knotty alder, its exposed wood frame cradling deep, generously cushioned seating. Bertu Home builds each modern luxury sofa to order in Ohio from solid wood — never veneer — hand-finished in your choice of natural, grey-wash, walnut, or black. The result is a luxury modern sofa with a relaxed, unpretentious warmth, equally suited to a living room or a covered porch.

The Suelo® Collection spans arm and side chairs, benches, daybeds, loveseats, ottomans, dining chairs, and multiple sofa and sectional orientations, each available in a solid or slatted version. This wood species is finished for indoor use; please contact for outdoor options. Thick-weave fabric is included in the price, with many colors available.

Designer Inspiration: "The Suelo® Collection was inspired by my love for travel. So many places that inspire me have very minimal furniture, often built-in sofas with big comfy cushions, hammocks, raw natural wood, etc. The feel is low-key, simple, and comfortable. The wood isn't refined, it just IS. Functionality always plays into my designs as well, represented here by lower seating for a more intimate talking or lounging environment, and the platform wood extension detail on the sofa, which makes a great little table for your drink or cell phone. I envision this furniture used for indoor/outdoor spaces or any room that needs some comfort or relief. The Suelo® line reminds me of your own getaway - it has a natural, cool vibe and doesn't take itself too seriously. I imagine the sofa loaded up with pillows and some music playing in the background, of course." -Gretta Jones
